Anita Ekberg

 

Kerstin Marianne Ekberg (Swedish pronunciation (listen), 29 September 1931 - 1 January 2015) was an actress from Sweden, most well-known for her stunning body and stunning beauty. She gained notoriety for her iconic character as Sylvia in the Federico Fellini film La Dolce Vita (1960). Ekberg primarily worked in Italy which she later made her permanent residence in the year 1964. Anita Ekberg was the sixth child of eight. In her teens, Anita worked as a fashion model. As per the requests from her mother Ekberg participated in Miss Malmo in 1950. The result was that she won the Miss Sweden contest. Despite speaking very little English, she went to the United States to compete for the 1951 Miss Universe title (an unofficial pageant in that period, the pageant officially became official in 1952). Ekberg did not win the title of Miss Universe winner, but she was one of six finalists. However, she did earn an agreement with Universal Studios as a starlet. She was a Universal starlet who received instruction in dramatization, elocution dancing and horseback riding, fencing, and elocution. She did a brief appearance in The Mississippi Gambler (1953), Abbott and Costello go to Mars (1953), Take Me to Town (1953) and The Golden Blade (53).
